We had a muddy, grassy area next to our back yard pond transformed into a beautiful, drystacked, flagstone patio with a tiered retaining wall that circled the area. The end result was an outdoor area adjacent to our small pond that we are able to us all summer and fall. Brent provided us with a detailed project plan and rendering of the project site that enabled us to understand the scope of the project and timeframe for completion. Work was done as described in the allotted timeframe and cleanup was flawless. We would use Brent again for any future landscaping projects.

We had a large area with our dog fence that really needed attention. It is on a slight incline and over the years the grass died and the dirt eroded down towards the fencing. Included in this was two big oaks that the roots had come up and made a really bad looking area. The former owner had put in underground pipes for the gutters but when they put the fence in did not connect that one. We also wanted a better looking set of steps to the gate from the deck then the current concrete blocks. We also had an area outside the fence that had been damaged by a large semi sliding off the road and tearing up that area. I went over the areas in detail as to what I wanted done and he had it written up on the eatimate as so. We were very late in the season and it wasn’t until the beginning of October that it was done. Which is why I have waited this long to post. We knew that the grass wouldn’t come in until spring and that it wouldn’t be fair to judge the work until then. The best part of the work was the stone steps that they put in. Perfectly done and well thought out. Looked great when done and so much better now the grass is in. The tie in from the gutter to the underground pipe was also a success. The rest of the work was a disappointment. It was clearly stated that the roots of the trees would be covered with soil and that soil would be brought in to replace that which had eroded away. The tree roots were not covered with soil. There was soil brought in for the other areas inside the fence that needed it and it was leveled to fit the grade of the yard. This didn’t look bad. The grass we were warned might not grow because of it being put down so late. Which we understood. Most of it has come in but we still have some spots in the yard. 2 weeks after having the yard done we had all 4 trees in the yard trimmed up to 15-20 feet up from the ground. Had them trimmed throughout for dead stuff and had them cut back from the house. We did this also to make sure that sun would get in and would help the grass to grow. Trees are from 60-80 feet tall and they needed a shave. So at this point I have lots of sun now getting to the ground that previously didn’t get much. The grass that did come up is great though so not really blaming anyone on this one. Hopefully it will all fill in. Over all the work that was done inside the fence was good. But disappointed that an area that was to be covered with soil did not get touched.
The damaged area out side the fence was to be flattened out and then filled in to the level needed to make it even with the rest of the ground. Then it was to have grass seed put on it. This was not done well at all. All that was done was the ruts were pushed back in and sorta leveled and then seed and straw thrown on top. Grass came up great but it is now mostly gone down to the dirt again because it is so uneven and mowing over it is impossible. I am going to have to get more soil brought in and level this entire rut out about 30 feet or so myself. Then reseed and hopefully get it taken care off. This was paid for by the person who damaged the yard so I guess I can’t say I am out any money except for what I will now put into it to re-fix it. I must admit that I was holding out hope I didn’t have to write this review. Just as the work got started last year I had to go stay with my sister who needed someone to be with her for two months after a hospital stay. Great thing was is it kept the dogs off the yard for two months because they came with me. Bad thing was is I wasn’t here when the work was signed off on. I received pictures from when it was done and it looked ok. At that time is was not a priority. When I came back home in November the fenced in project looked good. I did take notice to the fact that the roots had not been covered as discussed but at that late in the season and with me trying to get back to work after my leave I honestly never followed up. So I will take part blame because I never held the contractor responsible. My niece stayed home and worked her job while I stayed with her mother. She is the one who signed off on the work. She did say the guys that did the work were nice and professional and did a good cleanup job when done.

Brent was timely, courteous and knowledgeble with planning landscaping for the neglected yard of a home I had recently purchased. His suggestions to restore beauty and charm to the property were valuable and timely. I appreciated his honesty and professional manner.

Environmental Concepts Landscaping provides tailored design and careful attention to detail when building your landscape projects. This was our second project working with Brent and his team and we will call him the next time we have a landscape project in mind. Environmental Concepts Landscaping replaced the walkway along the back of our home and installed a rain garden. We are very happy with the results and highly recommend them to our friends and neighbors.

Environmental Concepts rebuilt part of our outdoor area which included redoing a patio and building several retaining walls. Along with that, our old hot tub was removed and deck leveled . Gone are the old uneven pavers and wooden retaining walls, replaced with an incredible looking patio with a beautiful brick retaining wall .The project was completed on schedule and looks amazing. The job site was kept clean and professional looking. We are very satisfied with the final product and look forward to using this new outdoor space. Brent designed the landscaping for around our house. This included flower beds on three sides of our house. River rock was used in front of our house and around the mail box which looks amazing. He had a lot of great ideas for incorporating different plants that will keep our landscaping looking good year around with the added advantage of being easy to maintain. The installation process was quick and well done. We are very pleased with the end product.
