We needed landscaping in our backyard and had seen some work done by UPL in the area and wanted something similar. We talked to Bruce Williams and he drew up a plan for what we wanted. They completed the project in one day and it turned out even better than we expected, and the cost was in the price range we wanted. We highly recommend UPL and will use them for any further landscaping needs.

It was a pleasure working with Dylan. The planning process for what went where went smoothly. Dylan listened to our preferences and incorporated three shrubs that we saved. He and his workers were polite and friendly. When the landscaping was complete they left the areas clean and tidy. We are looking forward to watching the plants to grow into a beautiful landscape in the front and back of our house.

I am so happy with the service (2 years in a row) by Urban Prairie. Last year we had them revamp our entire landscaping after we bought our house. They were affordable and great to deal with. This year it was time for a spring clean-up and they were so helpful getting us scheduled and taken care of. Dylan is quick to respond and we will continue to do business with them in the future.

We hired Bobby Monzingo to design our landscape and supervise the flower bed prep and the installation of our underground drain tile, limestone steps and small retaining walls. We chose to plant the perennials ourselves as a retirement hobby. We liked the colors and plants he selected and now that we have a well developed landscape appreciate the placement of evergreen trees.

There were several issues that presented themselves during the first few years. Some of the plants could not survive the amount of sun they were exposed to and after replanting over and over, selected a variant of the plants as suggested by the local garden center. These are doing well. In addition, some of the existing trees and one of the evergreens are now affecting the amount of sun the roses get and am considering replacing them with other plants.

The biggest and most expensive issue we had was with the stone steps Bobby recommended. He suggested that we order the stones from a company (no longer in existence) north of NP Dodge Park and have them delivered. Within a few years these started cracking making them loose and dangerous to walk on. I had Bobby come out to look at them but he did not fix them. The retaining walls also were failing. We didn’t find out until later that all of these hardscapes had not been installed to industry standards and that the Nebraska limestone was known to be a poor quality as compared to that found in Kansas. When we were getting bids to replace the retaining wall and fix the steps, we were told that they were installed improperly without gravel, etc. backing or the proper base. Finally, several years ago several downspout drain tiles backed up and we couldn’t find some of the terminations points. After digging them up we located one that was buried in the soil with no pea gravel, no outlet and pointing down into the ground. No surprise, it was filled with debris and roots.

We counted on Bobby to supervise our project or at least to do quality assurance inspections to insure that everything met his standards.
