I had a very mixed experience and I believe it’s important to share these things so the next clients can go in with their eyes open. On the positive side: the pool looks great, the end client service was amazing (Chad is fantastic) and they worked with me well to get an affordable pool. On the negative side, they didn’t communicate well with the other teams on the project and we had various issues as a result. I have also heard that this is a common trait of pool companies in general….

Originally I had contracted with another pool company to do my backyard project. The owner of San Diego Pools (Ken) called to set up an appointment to go over a unique design he had put together. He didn’t use my original plan, and while I was not impressed at first, upon seeing his design, my wife and I were very pleased. We cancelled our contract and signed with San Diego Pools. During construction, things went as planned, for the most part. Coordinating my landscaper with the San Diego Pools was frustrating at times, but Josh with San Diego Pools did a good job of scheduling subs and projects within the general schedule. Josh was the project manager, and did a good job of getting the subs to do their part, and correct any mistakes. While there were some hiccups along the way, Josh did a good job of handling them and getting things back on track. Ultimately, the pool turned out great, and I do recommend San Diego Pools for quality construction (extra rebar, shot-crete walls, and solid stone work) and superior design. Like with any construction project, be sure you do research to make sure you get everything you want and put into the contract. Josh was very good about adjusting to some small changes we had during construction, and was able to complete the pool in a reasonable amount of time. Lastly, Ken presented the pool design on a traditional engineering sketch- the computer designs are great, but the design itself is what matters- Ken nailed it.

San Diego Pools was excellent! I had a very difficult project as my yard overlooked a canyon in North Park and I thought I could never have a pool. They made it happen and at a price that did not break the bank. I have worked with many contractors over the years and most do not end up meeting the budget or timeline, however San Diego Pools did both. I have recommended them to many friends and families as they truly did an outstanding job.
