There was nothing fine about the experience with MaherGreenwald!

With the beautiful photos and pleasant discussion we were promised quality, however the result and experience was the opposite. They landscaped an uneven lumpy lawn with a dip in the middle then tried to put in a drain to fix it. That did not work and we were left with a soggy uneven lawn and rotting grass. Still the architect kept saying everything was fine but it was clearly not, unless we had wanted a swampy bath instead of a lawn. The admin was also slow and frustrating, with long delays, hand written invoices with mistakes. After we asked for no more time to be incurred without our approval, this was ignored. They also did not obtain the proper permits in advance which we later found out and caused much stress.

We now have to engage someone else to fix the messy lawn they botched. This is after paying them a small fortune. Everyone who comes to our house looks and says the landscaper did a terrible job. It is very embarrassing.

I would NOT recommend them.

Carrie and Mark are both incredibly creative and thoughtful — the design and layout reflected our more casual lifestyle ( kitchen and cutting garden, a patio transitioning from kitchen/family room to an expansive lawn with pool and pond) yet the unique and thoughtful plantings in each area of the property have an understated elegance – beautiful gardens that flower in stages during the summer and include unusual plantings. Equally important is that they stay with you over the years and tend your yard and gardens and they continue to evolve with the same thoughtfulness and care. They not only designed the original landscape but have been following up on the property for about 25 years! I especially like that if they do not like the stock quality at the nursery of their initial choices, they will suggest plantings which are in good health.

We had Carrie and Mark execute a large project involving replacement of a pool deck, construction of a spa, installation of landscaping, fencing . . . the works. Not only were they and their team a joy to work with, but the results were far beyond our hopes. Our back yard been transformed aesthetically, and the increased enjoyment our family gets from the dramatically improved space is just immeasurable. Worth noting is that Carrie and Mark also function as de facto general contractors overseeing the various contractors and tradesmen, and add tremendous value in that regard.

Maher and Greenwald provided a complete design and oversight of our backyard area including patio, deck, pool, jacuzzi, and all associated trees and shrubbery. Vision, creativity, and the use of angles/perception are particular strengths. We have lived here 16 years and say to ourselves even today— how did Marl and Carrie think of that? If you are results oriented this is the firm for you!

Both my mother and I have worked with Maher & Greenwald to improve our properties. Their design ideas and the skill of their experienced crews transformed each of our homes curb appeal and landscape tremendously. Working with them was such a pleasant experience. They understood what we each wanted to achieve, while working with what we already had, suggested changes and additions that worked beautifully! In fact, I receive compliments often from my neighbors on how beautiful my property looks. I would definitely recommend Maher & Greenwald to anyone looking to improve their property and landscape.

Greenwich Green & Clean and the Merritt Parkway Conservancy, both organizations started by Peter Malkin, hire Maher & Greenwald regularly for their highly visible, public projects. They are wonderful to work with, highly professional, and do exquisite plantings and hardscape designs.

Really top-notch. I recommend them regularly for any range of budgets: curb appeal may be the most important thing you can do for your home value, and community impact. They do a great job and are nice people.
