I highly recommend Maister Landscaping. I hired Michael Maister at the suggestion of my landscape architect, who had worked with him for decades. The project was a complete renovation of our 1.2 acres in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. I am thrilled with the results.

Michael’s landscaping teams are excellent. Typically, four to five gardeners worked at my house, but I had as many as ten during crunch times. The men are professional, hard-working and very pleasant. Most have been with Maister Landscaping for a long time.

Michael shows great pride in his work. Now, even though the project is completed, he continues to check on the plant progress. He doesn’t even bill me for this time. I’ve never had a contractor do this.

After an in-depth search for a contractor/designer we were fortunate to find Michael Maister. Michael, along with his tenured team, demolished my property both front and back and then created a stunning, eco-friendly environment. The revitalized outdoors is an amazing source of happiness. Michael’s attention to detail and his choice and placement of plant material is masterful.

We hired Michael Maister and his construction team to completely redo our front and back yards on our one acre property. We choose Michael because as we toured his work on prior properties we were impressed by the attention to detail and the high quality of the work and finishes. Some of the work he did for us included extensive planting and tree placements. We also did significant hardscape, a fountain, trellis, an 80 foot wall, stairs and plantar boxes. Michael was also instrumental in working with our pool company and coordinating the hardscape for around our new pool. The project has been finished for over 1 year and it is amazing. We constantly get compliments and emails asking who did our yard. The trees are flourishing due to Michael’s attention to soil prep and drainage. We are so happy we choose Michael and his team because now we have a yard that is impeccably finished with attention to detail and in my opinion worthy of being in a magazine.

We had the good fortune to have Michael Maister of Maister Landscape Construction do a project at our home in July and August of 2014. Michael had the highest recommendation of our landscape architect. Our project consisted of several stone columns in the Craftsman manner to match existing columns – all wired for lights – the base for a new decorative gate and fencing to our backyard, several new trees and a number of succulents and cacti to create a drier landscape, irrigation modifications, ands the removal of a number of plants. With the drought in California, we wanted to do all we could to be proactive about water conservation.

Michael is very energetic and engaging, and that enthusiasm carries over to his crews, many of whom have been with him a number of years. Michael listens carefully and knew exactly what we wanted. He was onsite every day to be certain the crew and we were all on the same page about what was to be done that day. We liked all the men on the crew – they were extremely hard workers, and they worked wonderfully as a team. Each knew exactly what his job was each day, and a bonus for us, they spoke English, very important as neither my husband nor I speaks Spanish. Michael referred us to some wonderful nurseries around San Diego to aid in our selection of plant material. Many succulents we purchased were fairly expensive, and the crew doing the planting treated them so carefully. Michael doesn’t rush his crews – they stay until everything is done completely to the homeowner’s satisfaction. I have never seen such care taken with planting, and, I honestly feel that I don’t want anyone else planting in my yard.

We had a wonderful experience with Michael Maister of Maister Landscape Construction – we would not hesitate to use him again and give him our highest recommendation.

Michael Maister and his team are professional and punctual. However the most important quality for us was the fact that he and his team communicate effectively with one another, so no time is wasted, no one is off task, and everyone is clear about their role in seeing the project to successful completion.
Maister Landscaping has collaborated with us on several projects, and no matter if it is sizable in scope or rather simple and elegant, the attention paid to the project and the client is always the same. It is excellent.
Michael and his team are good listeners and value understanding your vision of what you want to have accomplished, however they too have some excellent suggestions of ideas we didn’t even think of doing, and those that they incorporated turned out fantastic.
