Ryan and his team designed and built us the most amazing backyard oasis. We had recently built a home in a planned community that had a lovely view from the backyard of conservation forest but had a bad slope right in the middle of the yard. After trying to get our builder and every local pool builder to work with us with no luck, I came across Ryan Hughes Design & Build. From our first conversation, I felt he understood what I wanted to do. They took my rather vague wish list (pool for big family, outdoor kitchen/bar, fireplace, hot tub, privacy, multi-level, amazing for parties, natural) and created a plan that wowed us. Yes, we spent more than we had planned- but Ryan helped us cut cost where we could without losing the “wow factor”. Everyone that worked at the house was professional, courteous, the most neat & tidy construction people I’ve ever worked with. They handled every aspect of the project from design, building out the yard with concrete walls, pool, kitchen, fireplace, landscaping, lighting and furniture. We’ve had the backyard complete now for 7 months and not a week goes by that people don’t stop and ask us who built it. There were some issues here and there that came up (like all construction projects) but Ryan has always been quick to respond and resolve any problems or concerns, even after our project was complete. We can’t believe this amazing space is ours. I would highly recommend Ryan Hughes Design & Build.

Upon first seeing photos of Ryan’s work online (before we even moved to Florida), we were convinced that he was “our guy” for our outdoor living space renovations. From our initial meeting, through the design phase, demolition and construction, Ryan and his team never disappointed. Their communication, presence and attention to detail were top notch. Always available to answer questions and at our house almost daily to make sure everything was exactly as should be. Every single person involved with this job (and there were A LOT) was hard-working and courteous. Schedules were upheld and deadlines met… even when it was pouring raining, those guys were here working! Best part… the finished product. We are thrilled with the end result and our outdoor living space is hands-down the crown jewel of our home.

RYAN HUGHES, OUTSTANDING DESIGNER!: Ryan Hughes took on the monumental task of creating our resort-style pool with multiple fire pit seating areas, and a complete outdoor kitchen, all in a defined space with no room for expansion. Ryan’s ability to maximize seating while satisfying our desire for flowing water and fire is clearly a testament to his skill as a designer. From the moment you enter our front door, our guests are treated to the shock and awe of an oasis just inviting you to sit and enjoy. Ryan gives every detail his personal attention, allowing nothing to go unnoticed. Now, a year later, Mr. Hughes has repeatedly intervened on our behalf with respect to appliance companies, the pool equipment warranties, resulting in a seamless upkeep of our beautiful space. Ryan Hughes designed and built a space you do not want to leave.

I originally did not hire Ryan Hughes to design and build my pool and I went with a low cost bidder. The pool I built was a complex multi-level pool with four infinity edges. Unfortunately, the design exceeded the original contractor’s ability and the pool began to leak and the exterior infinity edge walls and pool floor began to calcify.

With my tail between my legs I called Ryan (the second highest priced bidder) and explained my situation and asked for help fixing a problem he didn’t create. I was surprised he agreed to help.

The infinity edges had to be demolished and rebuilt. The finish and spa light both had warranty claims. Ryan went over options and pros and cons for each and his relationships with the pool product vendors helped expedite the claims. Ryan even showed up on the job site himself to oversee critical phases of the remodeling (and rebuilding).

Ryan also re-evaluated the design. We improved the landscape, added hardscape features, changed the outdoor lighting, added “sun sails,” improved the architecture of the house to match the “zen” spa-like feel of the newly improved outdoor living area, and we upgraded the glass tile in the pool to better fit the design.

We may have paid for the pool twice, but I also got twice the pool I originally purchased. Ryan had no reason to help me. Yet, he took over the project like it was his own and turned our black hole in the back yard into our favorite living of our home. This guy and his team are remarkable, both in terms of artistic design and construction quality. His work and business ethics are also a rare find.

We have been working with Ryan and his team for several years now, Ryan is extremely hands on with every job, even down to the sq, ft 🙂 its been a great working relationship with extremely difficult tile jobs and deadlines at hand.
