I first emailed Joe Olewine, the owner of Sunnyside, in late February after reading great reviews about his services to discuss putting in a patio, gas fire pit and perhaps even a pergola. Joe responded back to me right away and over the phone we discussed what I thought I wanted for my backyard and the general costs of the project. He came over the next day to scope out the space and he immediately told me how much he loved the style of my house (a brick, 1920s bungalow) and what he thought might work better in the space. His vision really opened my eyes to how the space should really work, not how I wanted it to work in my Pinterest dreams. He discussed the materials, how the pergola really could work in the space, and the timeline. In the end, I hired him and after a few weeks delay (due to Denver’s Spring weather!), he and his crew started on a Monday in late March. At my request, his crew removed a chain link fence that was running alongside my yard and they began the process of levelling the yard where my reclaimed brick patio would be laid down. Over the next 5 days, the patio was laid, the pergola built, new steps to my back door added and the gas fire pit inserted. I couldn’t be more excited to have this new, wonderful space that is now my backyard. It now looks like something out of a magazine…my yard went from an unusable space to an area where I enjoy my coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night. I highly recommend Sunnyside for any landscaping project. Joe was very accessible to discuss the progress of the project and his crew were very professional as well as friendly. Cost was approximately $13,000 and it was worth every penny!
