I have to admit that after having spent well in excess of 150k with this pool contractor that at the very least when I called for service and repairs a year after its completion, I would at the very least get a reply. I’ve called 3 times and spoken to a lady who took my contact details and list of issues I’m having and everytime she told me that someone would get back to me shortly. A day, two days, a week, two weeks later and I’m still waiting mean while my pool heater and some of the pool lights along with my swim jets remain non operational. It’s a shame that I will be obliged to call some other pool contractor who is not familiar with the construction of my pool nor may he represent the same equipment brands that VanKirk sourced for me.

Great pool builders!! It was a terrific experience from start to finish. Mark the salesman remained very patient throughout the whole process and was always available whenever we needed him. We had tons of questions which were all answered. He spent tons of time with us to make sure we had the right design. Golan the project manager was equally helpful. Always available for any questions that needed answers and filled in on the next steps the whole way. He addressed any questions or concerns immediately and always kept on top of the project to make sure it was done to the highest of standards. We would highly recommend them to anyone building a pool.

I had chosen VanKirk to install my pool as I was under the impression they had the best reputation. In the 5 years I have had my pool installed, I have had nothing but regrets. Besides the little things in the beginning, there have been a slew of problems since the installation. These problems are all after they put the WRONG color in my pool! Since installation, they were out several times to replace/fix the travertine. Many have sunk, many have cracked. Once out of “warranty” it has been my problem which I still have to this day. My mother keyboard stopped working about 2 years after installation, my pool heater has crapped out several times. My lights don’t always work and NOW I have a leak in my 5 year old pool! Customer service there is poor. I have called almost everyday for a week, being told Robert VanKirk would call me back, I am still waiting on that call. I wish I would have really read all the reviews on this company before choosing them. They are way pricier than other companies. Since my installation, I have had other friends install pools with other companies with absolutely NO ISSUES! Beware when choosing the overpriced VanKirk to install your pool!

Since our 22 years in business, 10 of them have been working with this company. Its a family based biz with a corporate structure. Communication and all exchanges are handled in a timely and professional manner. Even tho we come towards the end with our products and service, this company shares its enthusiasm throughout. Look forward towards more successful projects.

Love our pool, however it leaked for the first two months after being built. They tried to fix it multiple times, but were unsuccessful. They told me they were going to have to get another company involved. The water bills were $400 higher during this time and I had renters coming to the property. I couldn’t wait any longer, I decided to have my pool maintenance company fix the leak, which they did the first attempt. Cost me $600 that Van Kirk refused to pay. No return phone calls from the owner. Very disappointing service considering my parents and I spent $120,000 building two pools with Van Kirk over the past few years.

Edit- After putting this review I was contacted by Jon Schulter, director of marketing of Van Kirk. He apologized and wanted to make things right. They immediately sent a check to cover the costs of the repair. Have no complaints, amazing pool, thank you!!

Bobby and Tim are wonderful Bobby recommended a location for my pool and he was right on. We get so many compliments and we just love the pool. The customer care the service dept exhibits is great Denise and Ken have always been there for us. Most recently we had a problem while vacationing in Sedona Arizona and Bobby and Denise sent the part( cap) that was needed to my neighbor free of charge so the pool would be able to be good as new. I was so stressed and Denise walked me through everything and it was taken care of by my neighbor. The pool is beautiful and customer service is fantastic!!!

Words cannot describe how happy I am we chose Van Kirk to build our pool. Although they are a big builder, it never felt that way. We always felt as if ours was the only pool they were building. On my friend Larry’s recommendation (who is a GC), I called them after meeting with five other pool builders. I learned so much doing research after meeting with each pool builder, that by the time I met with Bobby Van Kirk, I was able to see the differences of their company. I had my pool design mostly figured out, but am thankful I made changes suggested by Bobby, including increasing the spa to 8′, the color of Van Kirk blue, wall design and finish materials to name a few. I would strongly recommend meeting with other pool builders first and visiting their office too, so you will see the difference between the builders. We noticed this from our first visit. I was impressed with their operation and how nice/professional everyone I met was during our “tour”. What’s amazing…this never changed during the whole process. Any minor issues or questions during the build, as any big project would have, were handle swiftly and properly by the attentive and engaged project manager, Carl Salley or anyone else involved. Bottom line, this is a multigenerational company who likes to do things right!

Van Kirk and Sons Pools and Spas are rated high nationwide. In our opinion they are at the top of the best pool builders list anywhere and everywhere. Our pool is now 12 years since the day they completed it and filled with water…and it continues to be my favorite place and as often as possible. In all these years any necessary repairs are done by only Van Kirk and Sons. I wish they had a pool weekly maintenance company so they would be the only ones ever taking care of the pool they built. The experience in trying to build a pool with Van Kirk was terrible. David was pushy. Arrogant and did not listen. He pushed to get a contract signed. Did not give us want we wanted. When we wanted to cancel. They keep 5000 dollars. They said if we gave them a chance to build the pool I would get it back. We have a great landscape company design a pool. We let Van Kirk bid for the job. We waited an extra three weeks for the numbers. They were 420k the bid we excepted was 225. If you want a poorly designed pool and a ripoff price. Go deal with Van Kirk.

This company sold me back in August of 2020 and as of today we do not have a pool we can use. They ask to be paid before they complete all of there work, per small print in there contract, but clearly do not care to complete the job after they are paid. Not only that they aren’t done with details there is continuous issues with the plaster even after 3 acid washes and of course 3 refills later, there is also loss of water potential leak in the pool and all that adds to cost.
This company is horrible at communicating during the process or responding in genera.
You can expect lots of stress and irritation without resolution.
STAY AWAY!!!

After having hired 3 different pool companies that ripped us off tens of thousands of dollars and doing absolutely nothing for us, but causing several nightmares, we finally came across Van Kirk & Sons Pools and Spas. We were at the point of discussing the placement of grass and no pool because of all the headaches from pool company crooks, until Van Kirk stepped in to help us in our pool project.

We met with Bobby, the president of the company who was thorough, professional, an expert in building pools.

Bobby, and Van Kirk & Sons Pools and Spas did wonders for us! After they were hired and we signed the contract, we had the engineering plans drawn and stamped within 4 days, a permit within 1 week, something that our previous pool builder was let go off, because after 2 months on the job we had no progress towards engineering plans at all.

From the design of the pool, to the decisions of the finish, and selection of all the decking and tile, Van Kirk & Sons Pools and Spas has been all that we could have hoped for; their professionalism and quality of work are unparalleled to any other pool company out there.

I was warned about their service when I was looking for a pool builder back in the Fall of 2019, unfortunately I didn’t listen and thus in the position I find myself in today.
In July of 2020, VanKirk finished my $125,000 pool. From day one there were problems with thew travertine deck that had sunken in multiple places, with rain caused puddling of water. I sent videos and pictures, yet the workers they sent out were either unable or unwilling to fix it properly. Three months of frustration lead me to contact the owner, Mr. Tim Vankirk who came out to my house along with his project manager. They again took pictures and videos and assured me that everything would be taken care of. I explained to Mr. Vankirk that we were leaving the next day by ambulance to Connecticut where my wife was having multiple brain surgeries as she was diagnosed with stage four cancer. He told mt to just worry about getting my wife the care she needed and that when we arrived home, everything would be fine. The entire period we were away nobody from Vankirk ever came through our security gate to come to our home.
Upon return, the travertine was sinking more and threatening the integrity of the pool wall.
Upon calling the VanKirk service department I was told we were out of warrantee and there was nothing they would do for me.
Obviously, MR. Vanirk flat out lied to me. I am a believer that a handshake with a business owner or any honorable person is their bond, but obviously Mr. Vankirk and I have very different moral and values.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS with these unscrupulous people!!!!
