Land & Water Design has been designing award-winning outdoor landscapes and swimming pools for more than 30 years. We have been assisting homeowners throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area creating functional, elegant outdoor living spaces. We provide planning, design, and management services and work with the best contractors in our area to build a project we can be proud of.
Since 2003, Land & Water Design have been working together with homeowners to develop truly unique and distinctive outdoor living spaces. We provide planning and design services through all phases of landscape architecture to include construction oversight. We offer over 30 years of experience with transforming challenging terrain into creative design solutions.
As a Landscape Architecture Design firm, our role is to work directly with you to understand your needs and expectations and turn your ideas into a comprehensive, functional plan that is uniquely suited to your home and your property’s natural attributes as well as your lifestyle and personality.
Don Nesmith | Principal CEO and Founding Landscape Architect
For the past forty years, Don has practiced landscape architecture in the Washington DC area. After graduating from UMass, Stockbridge School of Agriculture with a major in Landscape Construction, Don decided to further his education at the University of Georgia. In 1970 he graduated with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, a five-year curriculum which he completed in three years.
Don worked as a landscape architect for VVKR Inc, Harry Weese & Assoc., and Greenhorne & O’Mara. Don was responsible for projects involving public parks, historic restoration, and private gardens including design awards for McLean Central Park, and Sully Plantation Restoration, a joint venture with two close colleagues.
Don and company now direct their design talent towards the upscale residential clientele.
