I have used Alison Pools several times over the past few years. They are one of the larger pool companies in the area, and as I was new to Metro Atlanta, didn’t know one from the other. They were originally recommended through AHS. They seemed reputable. A bit on the high side for price, but I was willing to pay more for quality repair work after the warranty was up.. I recently had an issue with a brand new pump (that Alison had installed only two years ago) motor going bad. It took 5 days and 4 phone calls to get someone to even come out to my house to take a look. Alison required up-front payment of $105 just to have someone come out to diagnose the problem (I don’t recall having to do this previously). The technician was at my house for all of about 10 minutes and didn’t speak with my wife, who was home at the time. I never received any type of report or follow-up phone call about the diagnosis. 3 days later, I was asked to pay another up-front deposit just to get in the queue for scheduling the repair. I could pay in-full upfront for “priority scheduling”. Again, no real detail on the “diagnosis”. It cost me $105 for them to tell me “the pump’s bad” and I’d have to wait another week for out-of-stock parts (unless I wanted to pay even more for a full replacement) and get in the queue. I emailed them with questions about the repair and expressing my concern with the level of service, the length of time it was taking and with the overall cost to repair. I immediately received a call from someone at Alison who proceeded to spend 20 minutes berating me, questioning my intelligence and integrity and overall being extremely rude and condescending. When I questioned the cost of the parts and that they were less through other sources, he hung up on me.
Not sure what’s happened at Alison. Apparently they are so busy that they really don’t need any extra work. My suggestion is to look to some of the other better reviewed contractors for your pool work.. Alison’s cost of parts is about 25%-40% higher than you can find elsewhere. Their upfront fees, taxes, shipping and labor costs can easily add another 50% on to the cost of repair. I’ll happily find someone else to take my business to in the future.
