Andy, Jesse, Chris, and the whole Beds and Borders team are wonderful! I truly can’t say enough nice things. Communication was often and clear, even allowing me to research each plant to be included in the yard to see if they were dog safe and working with me to replace them with good alternatives. Every member of the team that came to our home was professional and we enjoyed chatting with them all! Every little thing we had questions about or wanted changed or added was addressed. Chris was at the site every day and both he and Andy did such a wonderful job keeping us updated on what was happening and what to expect next. Beds and Borders were able to take our unkept .5 acre lot and turn it into an oasis even reusing a lot of what we had there previously. I loved how much Andy cared and thought about the environment and things like pollinators. I would give more than five stars if I could!

Beds and Borders have helped me with projects dating back to 2009. Andy and his team are extremely professional and dependable. Their follow-up to questions and concerns is unprecedented. They are able to take your basic ideas of what you want and add beauty, originality, and creativity to the project. This summer B and B removed all my old arborvitae in front of my house and planted various new plants and flowers and tore out my old sidewalk and replaced it with a gorgeous hardscape. With a new coat of paint on the house, this house is the “talk of the neighborhood.”

While we still have to see what it all looks like come Spring as we were finishing during snow, so far the project looks great. Very receptive to our requests and questions. Working site team was respectful of us as well as each other. Could hear laughing and saw smiles from the team – which made it seem like they truly enjoyed what they were doing. Amazing clean up at the end of each day as well. Would definitely recommend.

Andy and B&B’s work is the best combination of amazing creativity and impeccable execution. I first worked with them 15 years ago on a backyard project with beds, berms, retaining wall, steps and a gnarly water/drainage problem. That water problem has stayed solved (I had tried 2 contractors before B&B) and when he came back last year for a small expansion bed I was blown away by the design to incorporate a bird bath and route house water drains to dry creek bed to irrigate my birch tree.

When we bought our house, we knew the backyard needed work. It was overgrown with buckthorn and the space was so limited that we couldn’t enjoy it at all. Beds and Borders provided us with a beautiful vision of a yard that we can enjoy all year long, even through the Minnesota winters. In a short time, they transformed our backyard from a buggy, overgrown mess to an oasis. They were professional, on time every day, cleaned up at the end of every day and were so great to work with. Even after the project was complete, Andy checked in with us to give us guidance with our new landscaping. We are eternally grateful for our extended living space!

Bed & Borders is exceptional, and I couldn’t be happier with the job they did on our yard! We had a large backyard landscaping project, and I was nervous about how it would all come together. Andy and Jesse put me at ease and instilled confidence right away with their thoughtful, creative (yet practical) ideas and plans. I was so impressed with the execution of the job, from start to finish. Andy’s communication was top-notch throughout – his response to emails was incredibly fast, and he always took time to answer any questions. It was very clear that their main goal was to give us the yard we wanted, and they were willing to tweak and adjust our design and estimate to accomplish that. They were very respectful of our budget, yet also offered additional options if we wanted to “upgrade” (and the plans looked so good, we did). There were no surprises, and they were upfront about everything. They finished the job quickly, and the crew was very knowledgeable and friendly. Andy was there at the start of the job to make sure everyone knew the plan and things went well. I even got a hand-written thank you note when the job was done – this is a company who truly appreciated my business and worked hard to do a superior job.

Andy and team were great to work with from start to finish. Every e-mail and text received a response within 24 hours, and usually the same day. They came up with a great design after meeting with us and hearing our project requests. They kept us well informed on the project schedule, and the project was completed on time and on budget. The crew arrived early and worked late, always leaving the site clean, and in good order. We are very happy with the result, and highly recommend Beds and Borders.

My wife and I worked with Andy Freeland on our landscape project. Andy and his team were great to work with and we we very pleased with the outcome. A thoughtful design, prompt replies to questions, his bid was thorough and competetive, the work was done on schedule and to our satisfaction. Beds & Borders did a complete landscaping make over of our entire yard. From the creative design plan to the finished product, everything exceeded our expectations, We had both practical and aesthetic features that needed addressing, and all all were completed to exacting specifications. A complete drain tile installation addressed our water remediation needs. And the installation of a wheelchair/walkway path from the front driveway down the slope into the backyard allowed my husband access to the backyard for the first time since 2009. Jesse did his wheelchair accessibility homework and installed the path according to accessibility protocol for grade and slope. We requested some unique specimen plantings as well as architectural focus throughout the design, in addition to rabbit & deer resistant shrubs and plants whenever possible – and all this with low maintenance in mind. These goals could not have turned out better – right down to the new sod. The crew was courteous, professional, and helpful at explaining the process to us as the project proceeded. They were also very willing to transplant a few salvaged specimens – even to an area not being redesigned. The crew cleaned up daily prior to the close of the day, and there was very little dust and debris left behind. This is commendable considering the amount of rain to be dealt with throughout the duration of the installation. Andy also worked with other professionals for the finishing touches: a new irrigation system, landscape lightening, and suggesting the craftsman who refinished our existing pergola and teak love seat and chairs. The finished look is all that was hoped for and much more – we could not be happier! I would recommend Bed & Borders to anyone wishing to do a landscaping project that is creative, has exceptional beauty, and offers optimal functionality. Kudos to all of you!

I contacted Andy late last spring for a comprehensive plan to be executed over the next 3 years..
The major problem area had been full deep shade and was now sun /part shade. Andy and Jesse came up with a beautiful design, were very responsive to the changes I wanted, encouraged me and affirmed me in my choices. We set a Sept date at my convenience that worked with their schedule. Andy responded immediately to any questions and concerns over the summer. They confirmed the week before, showed up when they said they would, and did a wonderful job. The two days they were at my house Chris was in charge, and Desmond and Eathan were his helpers. All were d=cheerful, courteous, pleasant to be around and very hard workers. I am looking forward to the next section next spring.

Had a perfect experience with the B&B team. Having the business owners onsite and supervising is ideal. The plant design was just what we needed and a couple of suggestions for plants we hadn’t heard of was very welcome. We also had hardscape in the form of several large boulders that were installed just right – the positions related hand in glove with the boulders we already had in place. All the plantings were placed in the ground just right at good intervals.

Andy and his team just completed a large project in our backyard. They were extremely professional in every way. Their team showed up every day at 7 am and had a work ethic that exceeded any other company that we have worked with in the past. Jesse listened to our needs and created a design that not only met our needs but exceeded our expectations. It was an extensive project including removing existing trees, installing drain tile and irrigation system, landscape installation of trees and shrubs and a fence. We couldn’t be happier with the results! Our backyard reminds us of gardens we’ve seen in London! The best component of this company, is that either Andy and/or Jesse were at our house every day at 6:30 or 7 to oversee the design. The project was also finished ahead of schedule!

We were very pleased with the services provided by Bed and Borders Landscape Design. The team transformed our rustic backyard into a peaceful sanctuary with the feel of Lake Superior feel. Bed and Borders presented designs to us. We selected a design including pine trees separating our yard from the yards of our neighbors. Within our backyard we have a wonderful fire pit surrounded by rocks from Lake Superior and woodland plants. The team worked well with us as we continued to change the timing of installation and additional work in other areas of our yard. We enjoyed many evenings in our backyard and I would definitely recommend Bed and Borders for any work.
