My husband and I just bought a home. The inspector and appraiser said we needed work done on the front porch in order to bring it up to code. The job would take several thousand dollars and possibly change the aesthetic of the house.

I found California Deck Builders on Yelp and, given their incredible reviews, decided to reach out. When I brought this to the attention of Kobi, the owner of CDB, he said that the porch was fine and in line with all Los Angeles and California code. He said he would happily do the job if it’s what we wanted. But, he said the job was unnecessary if it solely to satisfy code (because it was already up to code).

I don’t even recall how much time he spent helping us, but I can say this – I’ve never experienced such stellar customer service in my life.

We don’t need a deck or new porch now, but since we are buying this home as an investment, I imagine we will eventually make upgrades. When we do, there is only one place we will work with and that CBD.

Bottom line: Kobi & co will do your job excellently at a reasonable price & on-schedule, with no surprises.
In my case, they actually finished the deck early – & only because these guys worked hard every day, & even came in on Saturday for the last day to keep the momentum going. It’s difficult to express how incredibly rare this is in the industry.

I am a very cautious person – it takes me a long time to “start” because I always want to do more research.
That being said, Kobi managed to get my trust where many other contractors had not. He was prompt & responsive. He was also flexible in the places where we were unsure on the design, as well as the starting schedule. He’s also straightforward – I had a big problem with larger construction outfits that tried to upsell me with confusing powerpoint presentations.

Kobi & team also accomplished creating the backyard raised deck my wife & I were looking for just perfectly. Kobi was flexible with us, & we can be difficult clients – we were changing the design right up until the contract was actually signed. I couldn’t have asked for a better process & outcome!

I’ve gone back to CDB several times since I first hired them a couple years ago, and Kobi and his team has been *fantastic* on every single project.

Most recently, I trusted him enough to build a gorgeous new pergola for me in my backyard during a week when I was out of town. What other contractor could I possibly have trusted to get a major project like that done while I wasn’t even around? He did an excellent job, made everything perfect, kept me completely updated, and I had the gorgeous new structure ready and waiting for me when I got back from vacation.

Kobi is the only person I’d ever even consider giving that kind of access and responsibility on a major project. If you go with him, you will not be disappointed. Guaranteed.

I hired California Deck Builders to replace concrete steps in the front of my house and to remove an existing wood deck and build a new wood deck in the rear of my home. Kobi Cohen, the owner, is knowledgeable, experienced, and personable. He is a “hands on” manager who is involved in every phase of a project. His crew is also knowledgeable and experienced. They were efficient and completed both projects in a timely manner. My wife and I are very happy with the new steps and the new deck. We highly recommend Kobi and California Deck Builders.

Kobi and his team went above and beyond in creating our beautiful deck, outdoor kitchen, and custom designed pergola. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I will make sure to post photos once we install the grass and BBQ so you can see how beautiful their work is! They were not the cheapest company we got a bid from but they definitely were worth every penny for their amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail. Kobi and his crew did an amazing job in turning my rotting wooden deck with a rubberized concrete coating into a beautiful, structurally sound tiled deck. No easy project- 1300 feet , 2 stories, on a steep hillside. Kobi is a true artist who takes great pride in his work and cares about his clients. He kept me involved at every step, always presenting clear options when issues arose. His crew is professional and highly skilled, courteous and friendly. The work was planned and executed beautifully and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Koby showed up right away to give me a bid…started work the next day and finished when he said he would and his work is nothing shy of excellent. Not only did Koby finish the deck (actually a day before he had committed to) he built in my BBQ and built a fence that tied everything in beautifully. Kobe and his main man Zen were excellent. We just had new railings put on our 900 square foot deck and it’s beautiful. Zen removed the old railing and did a beautiful job fixing the holes in the deck where the old posts were. I never thought it would be possible. Great workmanship and they are lovely and respectful and clean. I recommend them highly from the initial consultation with Kobe to the build by Zen. Just a steller job.
