We hired New England Landscapes to replace build a stone wall, stone walkway and replace our front lawn after many years of neglect. Rob impressed us from the beginning with the time he took to listen to our needs and come up with a design for our work. The two other vendors we interviewed did not take this step, so we weren’t clear about what we would be getting for the bid they submitted. Also, Rob listened to us about the type of materials we wanted to use. Once Rob and his team started the work, we were impressed with their professionalism and work ethic. We got to see the artistry of the stone wall being built before our eyes. They were courteous and respectful. The work was beautiful and completely transformed the way our front yard looks.

The only negative was that there was no ‘walk through’ when the project was completed – everyone just left without any acknowledgement that they were done. As a result we had to chase them down to get clarification on what to do about our new lamp post, and there were a couple areas that we thought were going to be done and weren’t, and which we would have liked to create a change order to finish the look.

We recently moved into a house which previously had a swing set and a large mulched area in the yard. We met with various contractors about transforming the area into a patio with a fire pit. New England Landscapes developed an amazing plan for the area based on feedback they gained from us. The plan included a stone sitting wall, natural, informal stonework and an incredible fire pit. The design included landscaping the area with additional native plantings as well. New England Landscapes worked on schedule, within budget and the end result exceeded our expectations. It has become the gathering spot of the neighborhood. The stonework looks fantastic against the backdrop of our woods and we couldn’t be happier with the project. The workers were professional, courteous, and patient with our many questions along the way. It was fun to come home from work each day and see the progress being made. Rob Mitchell has excellent follow through and has a true eye for landscaping projects. I highly recommend NEL for anyone interested in adding value to their home with a patio or fire pit project such as ours. Rob Mitchell and his entire staff are excellent. They have done two projects for us. The first one was a renovation and the second was new construction which included hardscape, planting and fences.
The design of both projects, including the hardscape and fences, really fit the space and was on time and on budget. Rob Mitchell and his crew created a beautiful outdoor bluestone patio for us, as well as a walkway from the front of our house to the patio and the floor with drain for our outdoor shower. Rob and crew were able to work in concert with the contractor we had building our deck and outdoor shower enclosure so that the finished products came together seamlessly. They also were able to add on a couple of extra minor jobs outside in a timely and professional fashion. He was very good about listening to what we wanted, bringing that vision to life, and getting back to us with any questions or concerns we may have had. I contacted New England Landscape Company looking for help with a landscape design for my backyard. We had a major backyard renovation in mind involving a large patio, fireplace and pool surround We had been working with another reputable landscape company in the Portland area, but we were finding their designs rather uninspired and extraordinarily expensive. Rob immediately volunteered to come out and look at the site. He quickly drew up a beautiful design that perfectly matched our vision! The plan incorporated all of the features we wanted including natural stone, boxwood and hedging, lighting, a fireplace, and an overall look that complemented our home. In addition, this design successfully addressed some challenges that we faced, including setbacks and privacy issues. The overall cost was very reasonable given the size and scope of the project. Rob is a consummate landscape architect and his crew is talented and professional. I would highly recommend this company.

We were referred to New England Landscapes last spring by a close friend. He described Rob Mitchell as a good businessman and a talented guy who was easy to work with. Not knowing exactly how we wanted to proceed with the beautification of our new urban back yard, we asked him to come over and talk with us. We met and discussed possible scenarios and within a couple of weeks Rob presented us with a fully fleshed-out and priced plan. We tend to be detail folks, but we liked it so much that we ordered the job as it was presented. It turns out we were in a queu so the start date was a little later than we had hoped, but once the crew started we saw quality work all around. We used NE Landscapes for a patio area in our backyard. They worked with us on different design ideas and the resulting product looks great. It includes patio, fencing, lawn, and planting beds. They were busy this summer, so it took some time to get the work started. However, once they did start, the work was completed in quick time. Rob was responsive with all the questions we threw his way.

We used New England Landscapes, Inc. to remove outdated paths and shrubbery and create new walkways and cover the entryway landing with colorful bluestone. They were creative in their approach to making the path fit organically around the landscape and driveway. The end result was not only beautiful–the house is now significantly more welcoming. Everyone on site was friendly, professional and paid attention to the details. We are looking forward to bringing them back to do the backyard hardscaping as well!

As a side note, this is not the first time that they’ve done work for us. In order to improve curb appeal to sell our last home, New England Landscapes, Inc. designed and installed a really nice path with concrete pavers. The house sold the first week on the market!
