My fiancé and I had been wanting to redo our backyard for a while, but had no idea where to start, so we decided to bring in Sage Scapes & Design for their expertise. Rene responded to the inquiry we submitted the following day, and scheduled a date to come out and take a look at what we were working with.

During our meeting, he reviewed our site survey to determine how far back our easement went, discussed what our budget was for the renovation, and threw out some ideas to get a feel for what we would be interested in doing. We mainly wanted something that would be low maintenance, and left the designing to Rene.

The design took about a week to be completed, and we went through a few rounds of adjustments based on my feedback before settling on a final version. Once that was done, a date for construction was set, and Jesus and his crew got to work. There were some delays due to rainy days and a freeze, but outside of that, the team worked tirelessly to make sure that the project was completed in a timely manner.

When everything was complete, the crew made sure to clean up any messes made, and when my fiancé and I had a few questions and concerns, Jesus and Rene promptly and patiently addressed all of them.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Sage Scapes and Design team for all your landscaping needs. They handle projects from small to large, and can work with the budget that you have. Their communication was consistent throughout the entire process, and we are so glad we went through with this project. Thanks to the team, we now have an aesthetically pleasing backyard to enjoy for years to come.

Rene and his team did wonderful job. It was a very smooth process, it was very easy to communicate with his team. The team from Sage Scapes and Design completed a patio extension and spray deck, decorative walls, a side yard walkway, and several planters in my rear yard on time and within the quoted budget. The team worked in a professional manner and put in long hours to ensure the project was completed on time. The elapsed time from start to finish was 8 days.

Exceeded expectations from beginning to end both in terms of time and doing what’s promised. Attention to finer details is where the magic is. Rene has a knack to map together bits and pieces of the desires of the customer and put together one incredible design of synergy. The company and the crew were always one step ahead through all phases of the project. The crew is courteous and knowledgeable.

We had landscape work done last winter – updating our front yard completely and landscaping our back yard around our new pool in the back. Only 3 stars for me: mostly hits but some disappointing misses, especially at this price.

First, lots to like. Rene is very enthusiastic, presents his ideas clearly and was easy to stay in touch with during the project. All the hardscaping work was implemented well and looks great. The majority of the plants selected by Rene lasted over the winter or are bouncing back. His right-hand man, Jesus, is very easy to work with too. I especially appreciated Rene and Jesus offering new suggestions or making small changes that I requested after the contract was agreed and at no extra cost. The front and back yard looked amazing immediately after planting. Lots of complements from the neighbors.

Three main issues. 1) plant selection – the cold took out some plants the first weekend, others are still clearly struggling perhaps because of the shady areas they’ve been planted in. 2) project timing – especially planting late January. I don’t mind putting a bit of effort into protecting plants and maintaining the beds but didn’t expect to be replacing plants so soon. 3) The stone borders out the front were an important feature for me but ended up being a compromise reflecting more what Rene wanted than what I had in mind.

If you select with Sage, make sure the contract is exactly what you want for anything important. Make sure the plant selections are appropriate. Push back on anything you’re not comfortable with.

Scope of the project: We needed a company that can design and install a pool with an outdoor living area with landscaping.

We did a ton of research by asking for referrals from friends, going through home magazines, and looking for top pool companies online before selecting Sage Scapes & Design. We inquired through 10 companies and 4 provided us quotes. To put it in perspective, below were the type of quotes that we obtained.

1) One company that went beyond our budget with a mock-up design after we explicity told them what our budget was. Basically the company did not listen to anything we said.
2) A company came out to view the site, but never came back to provide us a quote because he got too busy working on other contracts. He didn’t follow-up with us until 4 weeks later which we already made a decision with a company.
3) A company that was within our budget to provide what we needed, but the design and products that were being utilized was too simple and basic. Also, the budget did not include landscaping.
4) Then there was Sage Scapes & Design. I found them through PoolHandy and loved their designs and photos on the website. Then I sent in an inquiry. 30 mins later I received a call from the owner. After a 15 min conversation, based on his background and experience, we knew this was a company that we wanted to look into further that provided the one stop solution that we were looking for. His company offered design and support staff/contractors to do the pool, outdoor living, and landscaping.

– The owner was very communicative and professional from the start. We provided the scope of the project and our budget. Then he came out to inspect the location within the same week and provided us a 3D mock-up design for review within a couple of weeks. We were completely blown away by his design as well as being able to accomodate our budget to give us everything we were asking for. The project overall took 4 months to complete without any major hiccups. The owner was the project manager through the entire process and communicated as much as needed and made sure everything was on schedule. Also, we were able to pick out all the color pallets which was a fun process for my husband and I. He had his crew on all pieces of the project aligned and insynced from the beginning where their was hardly any down time for materials or staff. We had a final walkthrough to make sure all the details were in place and if there wasn’t, the owner made sure to accomodate what needed to be adjusted. During this time, we had friends that were waiting over 6 months to complete their pools.

We were very fortunate that we found Sage Scapes & Design and highly recommend this company.

Rene and his team did such a wonderful job in helping us create our dream front yard paradise. From concept to final construction, they were true professionals. During the construction process, Jesus engaged us to make sure we like what we were getting, his crew were very professional and did a good job cleaning it after each day. Jesus listened to us when we needed some adjustments to the plans and implemented it to our satisfaction. He explained how to maintain the landscaping and adjusted our sprinkler system to ensure proper watering. What a great team and we recommend Sage Scapes to others! We love our new front landscape!

Rene (pronounced Rin-ee, not Re-nay) and his crew did a fantastic job of installing a drain system around my house. The job included connecting about 10 downspouts to the underground drain with popups at the street curb. Rene made regular visits to the site during the 3-day job to ensure everything was going according to plan, and his crew worked long hours with surgical precision completing the digging and piping installation BY HAND, not equipment that could damage the yard or shallow gas or fiber optic lines. I was impressed with the fact that they showed up each day when they said they would, seemingly a rarity these days with contractors and companies. The crew not only wrapped up the project a day early, but power washed the entire site area. Rene ensured the sprinkler system worked properly at the end of the job as well to make sure the heads cleared sod and no leaks were caused by their work. He answered everything question asked and freely provided inspiration landscaping design suggestions. Rene’s work is a little costly, but keep in mind that you’re not paying a handyman – you’re paying a specialist in his field for his expertise, and you don’t want a drain installation done without it. I don’t have pics of the finished project as of this review, but it looks absolutely beautiful. My wife and I anticipate inviting Rene back to our house for future projects!

I would recommend anyone to Sage Scapes for the amazing work they do. If I had to use one word to describe my experience with Sage Scapes it would be “Quality”. Rene and his team take great pride in the work that they deliver to their customers. While our project was a rather small job, they took great pride in its outcome. I moved into a house that had not been occupied for about a year. The lawn was dead, and out of compliance with HOA requirements. The first thing I did was hire Sage Scapes and Design to review the situation and make recommendations. The design, thoughtfully created by Rene Vereecken (the owner of Sage Scapes & Design), was totally awesome. I have two dogs, and Rene’s design eliminated the muddy side yards, through the use of rocks and concrete slabs, which not only takes care of the muddy pawprints, but looks great! They replaced all of the grass and plants in the front yard with colorful plants and a new tree, creating synergy that has garnered many compliments from my neighbors. I wish everyone could see the back yard, which is so beautiful, I keep going out there just to spend time looking at it. It is truly a work of art. They performed the work in two phases, accommodating my schedule and budget. They also replaced my out-of-date sprinkler system control panel with one that actually works. I am so happy I engaged them for not only the landscaping, but also routine lawn maintenance, which they consistently perform with care and consideration.

I love our new front landscape! It’s completely transformed from what the builder installed. Rene was creative, professional, timely and responsive throughout the process – from initial call to consult, design and installation. The installation crew was very professional and cleaned up the site well when finished. No short cuts were taken and the finished product is better than I imagined.
