We hired this company to build our backyard dream pool and outdoor living space. The owners like to hear themselves talk but don’t listen nor finish well. It took 7 months to finish and almost all of the staff that started the project, including the project manager, quit. They are abusive and bully’s in every way. We ended up paying a couple of their contractors out of our own pockets as they were not paid. We will never get this time back. They have over-charged in every area with grass having a 400% mark-up. This is not a typo! They contacted my work and spoke with an employee telling them we don’t pay our bills and this after receiving over $346,000 with us still owing more and in a dispute with a lien on our home. They have made this experience a nightmare for us and it’s still not over. We write this review hoping and praying no one else falls for their greedy trap.

We lost the majority of out plants from the freeze. We heard great things about Stewart design. They weren’t the cheapest or the most expensive but we were glad we went with them. Their drainage work was excellent and we needed a lot of expertise in this area. They worked hard to find the best plants even in a time when plants are hard to find. They did a gorgeous xeriscape bed in my front bed. Which turned out better than I could imagine. Also they were prompt on a few issues we had after the job was finished. They did a major overhaul on our sprinkler system that turned out great. All in all we are super pleased with their work. Thank you John!

We have used this company for almost 12 years. They designed and installed all of our beds in both the front and back, fixing the boring landscaping the builder installed. We had such a great experience with them that we then had them design and install our pool, which a few years later led to them creating a beautiful, highly functional outdoor kitchen. Stephen is all about quality and service. He listens to what I want and then comes back with something that fulfills my requirements, but offers so much more. He’s very creative! When I went to other pool builders and said, “I don’t want tropical. I want an Italian feel,” they ran away, or gave me a picture of a rectangular pool. Stephen did some research and designed a beautiful pool and patio that screamed Italian, even incorporating plants and trees from that part of the world. I can’t say enough about this company. Over the years we have talked about moving, and each time we do, we say, “But I don’t want to leave our backyard.”

We asked Stewart Land Designs, Inc., to develop a plan that maximized the use of our backyard. The plan was to include a covered space for our grill and a place to eat and entertain, plus a bocce court. They designed a plan that provided everything we required and much more. The bid seemed reasonable, given the work involved. I was familiar with their work through our homeowner’s association, but my husband was not. He searched online sites for reviews and found an extremely negative review, stopping the forward movement of our project. We spent approximately three months researching and obtaining additional bids, never quite certain if we were comparing apples to apples. After discussing our concerns and issues with Stewart Land Designs and visiting other completed job-sites, we decided to utilize one contractor to complete all renovations, including the damage caused by water run-off caused by Harvey. We felt Stewart Land Designs, Inc., was best suited to complete the project and address the drainage issues. They knew the project and understood it at its core.
The project began in October of 2017 and was completed in March of 2018. Work occurred on every day possible, except for one day. Our backyard renovation was a large and extensive project. It included the building of a pool, patio with kitchen, fire pit with bench, bocce court, putting green and retaining walls, the installation of pavers, irrigation system and landscaping, and changing an upper patio into indoor space. An existing concrete patio and iron staircase, numerous trees and irrigation system, hidden stumps were removed or significantly altered prior to the renovation. The yard looked like a job site, as expected. I lost track of the number of dump trucks and other large vehicles that removed, delivered or worked on our project. Our project required a large contingent of tradespeople to complete. Stewart Land Designs, Inc., kept materials delivered when required and tradespeople working when appropriate. The companies chosen were capable and made every effort to meet our exceptions.
Our project makes sense functionally, yet it is beautiful. Everything is where it should be to maximize the use of our backyard. The pool and spa were designed for fun, but they serve perfectly as a water feature with numerous waterfalls. There are various spots to sit and enjoy the view of the pool, the bocce court or putting green. The fire pit provides another spot to sit and enjoy family and friends while looking at the pool or patio areas. Drainage problems were addressed. We are delighted with how everything turned out and are glad we selected Stewart Land Designs, Inc., to both design our backyard plan and bring it to life. No detail was overlooked. Changes made to the project were not met with resistance or delays. The office made it easy to pick out products and make payments as necessary. The owner was available by phone for questions or clarifications, during late evenings or when out of town.
At the end of a day, we step outside and feel as if we’re on vacation. What more can one ask? Nothing! We are looking forward to years of family enjoyment in our backyard.
