I never post reviews but I don’t want anyone to go through what I have been through with Sunmar. I hired Sunmar to build an outdoor patio with a covered porch. Project was supposed to take 3 months but actually took 8 months. Owner was never onsite to manage project. Failed inspection after failed inspection. It felt like pulling teeth to have anything done correctly. Who builds an outside porch over a fireplace vent? Really?! When I approached the owner he accused me of wanting “free stuff”. Luis was extremely rude and demeaning towards my family and I. He lost his temper when I would approach him and all of this could have been avoided if he just managed the project.

I eventually took Sunmar to small claims court in 2021 and won judgment in my favor. Sunmar appealed and I eventually had to go back to court for arbitration which I WON judgment in my favor AGAIN. To this date they have not honored the judgment against them ordered by the court.

If you want to hire a company that does NOT stand by their workmanship guaranty and have to go through the legal system then this company is for you.

Communication, professionalism, and behavior of the company were unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and go with a different company who cares about his business, customers, and honors his contract.

Luis, Brian and the TEAM did an exceptional job!

We did a sizable backyard overall and Sunmar exceeded every expectation. From design to finish work, the owner and salesman were hands on, established a collaborative partnership and were engaged every step of the way.

The crew was neat, courteous and hard working; they were a true pleasure to have around our home.

Needless to say, we did a lot of competitive research prior to picking Sunmar and now that we are finished, we can certainly say that we made a great choice.

We highly recommend Sunmar and would use them again in a second!

We looked at a few options and contractors for our backyard project. Briefly, the project included a large retaining wall, mineral springs swimming pool with waterfall, large cabana with fireplace, irrigation, lighting, sod and a custom shed. As this was a large project and truly a transformation of our outdoor living space, it took about five months to complete and we were very lucky with few weather delays. The quality of the work is fabulous and upscale. The owner has high standards, and at times, had the crew remove and/or replace finished work as it was not to his standard. The team and construction crew were very professional and respectful and was a pleasure to work with day in and day out.

Overall, the progress went smoothly and we are very pleased with the end result. Only a handful of small issues along the way, but were resolved in short order. We look forward to many years enjoying the extension of our living space and quality time with our family and friends in our backyard.

In summary, we are pleased to recommend and endorse Sunmar and would suggest you consider them for your project.

Our’s was a small project, compared with others on this page. We wanted 5 green giant arborvitae trees planted along our property line for privacy. Also,a group of flowers and plants to complete a flower bed on the side of the house. Brian listened to our request, gave a few suggestions, and then presented us with a complete plan of where each plant would be. It included color animated pictures of the project, showing exactly what the finish project would look like. The workers were very polite and professional. the project was finished in one day. Several weeks later, three of the plants in the flower bed died. We texted Brian, and within several days he came and replaced them. We would recommend Sunmar to anyone, in fact we have given Brian’s e-mail to several people already.

We couldn’t even begin to give the crew of Sunmar Construction enough praise! They are extremely professional, attentive, courteous with incredible work ethics. Not only was every detail outlined for our project, but Brian, the sales representative, would go above and beyond to offer alternate options for us when we were concerned about the cost of certain materials, etc.
Luis, the owner of the company, was on-site often, not only checking on his crew’s progress of our project but checked in with us as well for any questions or concerns we may have. Brian also checked in often to monitor the progress and concerns. How many times have you ever seen the sales rep actually come by or even stay in contact after the contract has been signed? We certainly haven’t in past experiences, so that is just another level of great customer service Sunmar Construction offers.
We have had many other experiences with projects such as this in the past. We can say hands down this company does supreme work from the beginning. They not only stuck to the proposed schedule but continued to stay ahead of that schedule throughout the project. The crew arrived on time daily, worked much later than a typical 5PM cutoff and even worked on Saturdays. In addition to their punctuality, every day before the crew finished for the day they would clean up the dust and debris by sweeping and using a blower. All we can say is, wow!
We are now in the final week of our project and already very pleased with how amazing our backyard looks. We will (and have already) happily recommend Sunmar Construction to anyone looking for superior design, craftsmanship, and project management. We are thrilled the way they have turned the hard, bare grounds of yesterday into an inviting, valuable extension of our home. Thanks, Sunmar!

We have been beyond pleased with Sunmar Construction! After getting several quotes/designs for our pool project we decided to go with Sunmar because the owner, Luis, had our trust from the start!! I am happy to report that our trust in him did not disappoint. Every step of the way Luis has been helpful, with daily updates and visits. His consultative approach made the whole process a breeze. His crew is professional and hard working. I would recommend Sunmar to anyone who is looking for a unique design, no surprises and an owner that really cares about his customers!! I would give 10 stars if that was an option!!

Sunmar is the most unprofessional contractor I have worked with. Owner is disrespectful. Sales guy over sells and lies to get a contract signed. Owner won’t take responsibility for what he promised. Owner keeps forcing his ideas on you. You pretty much have no say once you sign a contract. I wanted to make a small change that I was willing to pay for. It was originally promised by the sales buy Brian. Luis said he won’t do it even though we were willing to pay for it. No explanation, just “we don’t do it”. He keeps threatening to pull his guys out because we don’t let him do what he wants to do in our property. Awful experience.They wanted to cut corners and get rid of the project. Sunmar sent us an email about leveling around the hardscaping which was supposed to be done in order to finish the project. On the last day, they didn’t want pay for the soil so they decided to dig in OUR woods to use that soil to level without our permission. They were cutting corneres anywhere they could. Terrible and unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and go with a contractor who cares about his business and customers. We hired Sunmar Construction to build us a pool/spa, outdoor living space under the deck and landscaping for our yard. We couldn’t have picked a better to company to work with as the design and the delivery of the project was everything we hoped for and more. It was a very smooth process and overall just a great experience! We highly recommend Luis and his team – their quality is top of the line!

Sunmar installed a retaining wall at my house, and then at a later point sodded the job once weather permitted. Other contractors did not want to do the job due to the small path around the side of the house to bring equipment and supplies to the wall area – Luis assured me that they would have enough room and drive carefully enough with their equipment, and sure enough, did the job without any issues. The wall and lawn look great, and they were able to complete the jobs in the times promised.

sunmar did a an excellent job on designing and building my pool and patio and landscaing ,,, exact finishing time and best quality .

luis is a great guy to deal with ,, very proffisonal ,, very understanding ,,,very cooperative ,,, and very trustable .
