Building my pool with BYOP was very simple and easy. I used the steps they provided and things went very well. I did bump into a few areas where I needed help and they were on top of every question.

At the beginning of our discussions they were very insistent that they would help with any problem that occurred and that they had contacts to solve every problem. Actually, I put this to task. Two weeks after the pool was turned on, I had a leak in one pump. I contacted Marshall and he was all over this (while he was boarding a plane). The warranty folks came out on Christmas Eve/Eve, replaced the pump and had things running again ASAP. The repair rep said, “he wasn’t sure who I knew, but he was told to replace anything no questions”. He said he had never heard that before. The Repair man also helped answer other questions that we had and assured us he we could call anytime.

When questions came up, and they will, BYOP was always at hand to answer questions.

So yes, problem cans arise, but yes, Marshall and the folks at BYOP lived up to everything they promised. Would I do this again, Yes. Did a learn a few things, yes. Would I recommend BYOP? Absolutely yes!

If you’ve decided to have a pool built, do yourself a favor and talk to the team at BYOP.

Marshall and Doug have years and years of experience designing and building pools. They provide great advice and feedback throughout the process from pre-construction all the way to the end plus they offer support for future needs / questions.

I talked to a dozen companies and they all had different advice and marketing collateral but the reality is, you are going to be involved in the details of building a pool… why not manage it to your standards and develop relationships with the companies and people that ‘do’ the work.

You will save allot of money. In my case I saved over 20% vs. the same spec’d pool from a traditional builder. I’m in program management / tech operations but it’s not rocket science to understand the steps to get this done. Do the math for yourself and you’ll find BYOP offers the best value out there and the sub contractors they recommend are experienced, have solid reputations themselves and are very helpful along the way.

I have no regrets in deciding to work with BYOP and we are looking forward to the spring and summer to enjoy our new back yard.

I have been very pleased with the beginning of our process with BYOP. I can’t say enough about how responsive and helpful Marshall has been to us. Our build with BYOP will truly save us thousands of dollars. While I’ve been persistent with questions, they’ve been very patient and forthcoming with answers. And they’ve made the process make sense to someone who has never built a pool before.

Design and Build – These guys are very creative and experienced builders. Their access to all the top trade groups is invaluable whether you are building a new pool or remodeling. They were able to help me finish my very complex pool project when several others had given up.

Equipment & Chemicals- They carry only high quality parts and equipment as well as professional quality chemicals (can you say granulated tri-Chor in a large bucket). No need to price check as it will be a waist of your time. They have the best prices you will find and they stock anything you may need.

The best compliment I can give BYOP is that they do what they say they will do and they do it on time and on budget. Anyone who has ever built or owned a pool will know how hard it is to find a reputable pool company that has all of these traits – knowledge, price, quality, contacts, and, most importantly, they keep their word!

I had a wonderful experience building my pool with BYOP. Prior to going with BYOP I’d built a pool with another company at a previous home and I have to say that building a pool with BYOP is just a better experience all around. You learn the in and outs of the pool, which increases your confidence in it. I had four quotes from other companies before selecting BYOP and I simply got WAY more bang for my buck going with BYOP. In fact, I can confidently say that I didn’t have to settle or give up anything I wanted in my dream pool, with BYOP I was able to get exactly what I wanted. The process sounded intimidating in the beginning but it is actually really easy to navigate. The subcontractors are professional and the exact same folks excavating and tiling for the big companies. I was initially concerned I wouldn’t know how to tell if a subcontractor was taking a shortcut but quickly learned that Doug and Marshall were on speed dial if I had any questions/concerns and their guidance never led me astray…and not one subcontractor took a shortcut, they were incredible. I will never build a pool any other way again. This was a great experience and I love my pool!

This is a GREAT alternative to having a pool built for you, especially if you enjoy DIY work. BYOP does as much or as little as you want and they are very easy to work with… it’s like they are on “your” side – not pushing you one way or the other and they offer excellent advice and consultation each step of the way. I did everything myself except the gunite and plaster – they provided the gunite & plaster suppliers. Think about it – if I called up one of the gunite companies, it would take forever to get them out because I am only one job. BYOP is helping with many pools and they had the gunite & plaster guys out within days!! And, they provided all the equipment at Amazon prices. My neighbor across the street was so impressed, he is building a pool now too but letting BYOP do the design an more of the work…. he will just do the General Contracting.

We have officially started the design phase of the project and BYOP has been a real pleasure to work with. From the designer Jay, to those at the BYOP store Joe and Marshall, everyone has been on time and more than willing to help with questions and offer explanations to problems an owner/builder has. I would truly recommend this process to anyone willing to take a lead role in the project and those wishing to save money!

We are currently 45 days in to the process and I couldn’t be happier. The process continues to be smooth with very few surprises. Since my previous post I met (well, spoken over the phone) with Doug, he like the other employees of BYOP has been a real pleasure to work with.

So the project is slowing….not due to the subs or BYOP but rather the RAIN!!! I’m a firm believer that without rain delays we would have been done by now but we continue, even with the rain, ahead of what I’m told would take any pool company much longer.

Day 64 and only two subs are left. Due to the fact that it is Christmas those two will carry into the new year but I have yet to have any problems with the subs or BYOP! My experience has been very good and very low stress!

81 days and the pool is DONE! As stated previously I would recommend this process to anyone who is willing to take a lead role in the process.

I must admit I was a little concerned at first, because we had a bit of a rocky start. Evidently, the guy who originally quoted my bid was transitioning to a new position and had some things wrong on the bid, so I decided to show-up in person. I am so glad I took the time to go over there. As soon as the owner figured-out what had occurred, he bent-over-backwards to make sure my order was correct and that I got the absolute best prices possible. (I actually walked out of there with higher end equipment for less money than I was originally quoted!) He also took the time to make sure all of my questions were answered about the equipment and even answered some construction questions I had. I can not say enough kudos about how well Wholesale Pool Equipment and Marshall Varner treated me. I highly recommend buying your pool equipment through them.
