Thankfully, on excavation day, after months of poor to no communication and general unpleasantness, we pulled the plug on this project realizing that once construction started there would be no turning back. We are so glad we did because it uncovered the following dishonesty. Read on and see why it was well worth the entire deposit to be rid of this gaslighting liar. We hope to spare you the same fate. After receiving the file from him upon terminating the contract, we discovered that the pool plans he submitted for permitting (and which we finally got a permit for after 5 grueling months), were not designed for structural pilings, despite being aware of an engineering report we had commissioned before we hired him that clearly stated our pool required pilings and despite various e-mails from him referencing those pilings he would be installing. At some point many months into the permitting process, he got some engineer to write a letter stating that pilings were NOT required. Based on the timing of the letter, it appears that the city caught up with the fact that they were about to approve a pool without having seen an engineering report, so he had this guy fabricate one. That engineer was never even on the premises! Had we not fired Sunshine Pools, we would never have seen this letter and would not have known our pool was built to specifications unsuitable for our property requirements!

Obviously, when we told the city about our soil boring test from Dynatec and their conclusion that pilings were required, the city cancelled the permit they had approved. We had to agree not to sue Sunshine Pools in order to get him to release our file and release us from the contract, but we decided that we at least had gotten usable plans and permits for the almost $10,000 we had given him. But alas, due to his slippery ways, we didn’t even have that. When we contacted this engineer directly, he told us that if we had a Dynatec report we must go with their recommendations, and he agreed to revamp his plans to include pilings. STAY AWAY! Read all the complaints and reviews. They are ALL true. They are merely different versions of our experience, though without the deception involved in the pilings and engineering report trickery. Knowing that what he had done had been exposed, one would think he would have had the sense to offer us money back to keep us quiet, but this guy is SO arrogant that would never cross his mind. He is unethical, unresponsive, uncommunicative, unpleasant, unprofessional, and unworthy of anyone’s trust or business.
