This review is written ~3 years after work is completed. The design and workmanship is 100% good. We had a bluestone patio installed, low voltage lighting, irrigation system, sod and all trees, shrubs and plants. Approximate cost $80K. Their crew is experienced and do excellent work. I would give them a five star review if they fix or attempt to correct the following issues as I see fit.

We wanted a rabbit/deer free design and plantings. Along with primarily perennials that don’t take a lot of personal maintenance. In the past three years we lost one Serbian weeping pine tree due to rabbits, 3 Dakota Pinnacle Birch trees (due to bronze birch borers) and numerous box woods. I think their shortcomings is the total lack of sitting down with you as a client and pointing out potential issues on insect pests and wild life. They’ve been in business over 45 years and this shouldn’t be new to them. We never knew that we should be on the lookout for bronze birch borers or put a metal fence around our pine to prevent damage.

I called them to see if they could install some new Dakota pinnacle birch to replace the three dead ones. Was told they can’t get hold of size 20 containers for them this year. Which is true. I did find some in LaCrosse WI, was willing to drive and get them if they would take out the dead ones and replace with new ones I purchased. I was willing to pay them whatever they wanted to do the job. Was politely told they can’t do it, don’t have the time. Needless to say I was highly disappointed considering I recommended them to my two neighbors that were building new homes as well. Between us we spent close to $200K I then called Davey Tree Company and bought 3 Parkland Pillar birch and they will remove the dead Dakota birch plant new ones. And they didn’t even get this work on my property to begin with in the beginning. Be prepared to be on your own down the road as Yardscapes is not prone or willing to help you down the road when your one year warranty expires on your plantings.

Yardscapes designed and built an outstanding backyard space consisting of a full outdoor dining area, stone spa, firepit, and related structures and comprehensive yard landscaping. The design was brilliant, with different options presented, discussed and agreed. The team were thoughtful, detail-oriented and professional. From the outset, they worked to develop a custom space that would work for us and for the house. The stone work is absolutely stunning, we like it more every year and truly distinguishes them from the competition. The spa in particular is a standout. Yardscapes kept in constant communication, and implementation of the project was timely and within budget (including change orders). We could not have been happier with the whole experience… they know their business, and they execute it well. Years later, Yardscapes responds at a moment’s notice whenever we have questions or would like some follow up or an alteration. It doesn’t get any better — give them a hard look if you are considering a project.

They are professionals, very attentive to our opinions and have always continued with any maintenance issues after the project is complete.

Yardscapes did an excellent job of turning a bland hillside into a wonderfully terraced area of our yard by adding boulder and timber walls for garden spaces for what was then our new home. Additional terraced garden areas for my herbs, vegetables, flowers and greenhouse were skillfully blended into and at the edge of our wooded and natural habitat inspired yard. They understood our vision for the place and were ultimate professionals the whole way through. All of their work has stood the test of time, remaining intact and attractive for years and years. I’d highly recommend them to others.
