We live on a small St.Paul city lot. We were looking to tear down our garage and rebuild it along with planning landscape. We wanted it all to feel as more of an extension of the house, or an extra room. Because my husband works in construction, we had our own builders working on the design/building of the garage.

For the landscape architecture, we worked with Ian Lamers. We can’t say enough good things about him! He was extremely professional, flexible, timely, personable, and kind, on top of being creative and constructive! We loved his interest in working with Earth friendly materials. Being that there is not a green thumb in our house, he was more than willing to answer many questions.

We have two small children and Ian was friendly them and patient with our parenting needs. I know he has his own family, yet was willing to take calls any time and meet when it worked for our schedule. He communicated well with the garage builders and was willing to work as a team to give our small yard a more welcoming feel.

Unfortunately my father-in-law passed away just after we took our first big step- cutting down a huge tree in our back yard, so the plans were put on hold through the winter. We hope to start them up again this Spring, and Ian Lamers will be our choice as landscape architect!

Working with a limited budget, the main challenge in planning our new landscape was to pick a designer that could maximize the unique character and value of our property. Ian Lamers creative design skills, his passion for aesthetics, love of nature, and personalized service made him the perfect fit for our project.

We would like to thank everyone on the install crew for working through days of extreme heat. Their professionalism, attention to detail, superior workmanship and positive attitude will always be remembered and appreciated.

The impact of our new landscape in terms of value and aesthetic beauty is beyond our expectations.
