We have enjoyed working directly with John throughout the design and planning phase through to the splashing with kids in the water phase. He was raised like I was- if you said you’d do it, you did it. A handshake meant it would happen. John made sure our pool and hot tub fit our family, our house, and our budget. We even stretched him by being his first PebbleTec PebbleFina users! Don’t hesitate to use it- we love the smoothness and color!! We picked Pinot Grigio, and it gives a beautiful light blue color throughout. Enjoyed it so much we hired them to keep cleaning it!

John Pack Custom Pools recently completed a beautiful job of remodeling our 1980’s rectangular swimming pool and literally transformed it into a fantastic contemporary pool that looks as though the design was original to our home. As in any retro-fit, there were challenges to the construction and design causing us to make some changes that weren’t originally planned and John and his team were not only extremely accommodating but skilled and able to meet those challenges. John Pack and his team are fabulous. He really took outstanding care of us, from helping us plan a design that would combine long-term durability and fun with a real attention to detail and quality — all while keep costs very reasonable. At every stage, he has gone above and beyond to make sure that things went well and that we were happy. We try to buy local wherever possible and our experience with John definitely proved that out. We selected John to design and build our pool based primarily on finding a quality builder that we could depend on. From the first visit, we felt a connection with him and his team. He skillfully and patiently elicited the desired features we wanted out of the pool and then returned with a design that blew us away. As the team worked diligently to build the pool, even though I had seen the drawings, I was beside myself happy as it came to life. The team was dedicated to quality and also the sanctity of things around the house, namely my puppies assisting in doing things that limited their time in the kennel yet not compromising on quality in any fashion. Although we had some obstacles to overcome, John and his team worked closely with us to resolve them which was the #1 reason for choosing him. The pool still blows me away and I am often called inside by my wife as I stand out there in the evenings simply admiring it. I even polar bear’ed a couple of times this winter just because I couldn’t wait to get in! The in-floor cleaner is a must!

When we decided to build a custom pool, we talked to several different contractors. We elected to go with Pack Pools because the staff went above and beyond helping us achieve a design that matched our vision. John took a personal interest by introducing me to many of his clients to allow me to inquire about their experience and by making sure that all the details were addressed before our construction began. Once construction started I was truly impressed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into every phase of building our pool. The employees were polite, considerate, knowledgeable and took great pride in their work. John was available, approachable, accommodating and informative when we had questions or requests as the construction progressed. Coming from a 45-year career in construction I have witnessed quality as well as less than quality contractors. We spoke with 3 pool builders when starting the process. I won’t mention the names of the other 2 but we were quite unimpressed by their designs and the lack of interest in working with us to tweak or customize the designs. This was definitely not the case with Pack Pools. All of the companies had an initial contact where someone came out, spoke to us about what we wanted and how we wanted the layout and look. The difference was that John’s designer actually listened and nailed 90% of our asks where the other companies seemed like they just pulled a stock design out of a book. The last 10% of our perfect pool came from the man himself, John Pack. John has an amazing eye for design and can recognize possible future pitfalls from poor design choices. He took the original design, tweaked it based on our input and his experience and we ended up with not only a fantastic pool but a great outdoor living space. Even better, John is a super nice, stand-up guy that we’re happy to now call a friend.

It’s been about 3 years since John and team completed our pool. Without question, the outcome is exactly what we wanted— something unique that almost makes us not desire a luxury hotel with a personal pool because we have it at home.

The process was mostly smooth. One of the few 3rd parties John used did some sloppy work due to some unfortunate personnel changes and John personally continued to press them to get it right. It took 2 attempts over about 1.5 years to get it just right. Some pool company owners perhaps would have settled for good enough, but John ensured it was done according to the vision he and I agreed on. Very much appreciated.

Should I ever build a pool again, It would be with John.
